My Hero Academia Review (Anime Review)

Updated: Aug 25, 2020

My Hero Academia is simply, a really good anime. To be honest I wasn't that into it at first because its art style looked goofy to me. Though when i came back around to it, I found my self loving the art style, plot and so much more!

MyAnimeList

To sum up the story, My Hero Academia is a world where majority of the population have special powers call "quirks". The story is about Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy, and his dreams and journey to becoming the #1 Hero. In this article, Anime Culture will point out some amazing qualities that make My Hero Academia such an amazing Shonen anime.

Genres: Action, Comedy, School, Shounen, Super Power

Rating: 8.25 (On MAL)

The Plot Is So Unique

Starting with the plot. My Hero Academia has the Average shonen concept, though its still very unique in its own way. The entire power system is very cool with everyone having their own quirk unique to them, and the whole "students who go to schools to hone their skills and become heroes" is very entertaining, My Hero Academia exceeds in this genre. The plot only thickens as Midoriya and his classmates have more run-ins with villains, having to fight for their lives. And the growing rivalry between Midoriya and Bakugo, which is an essential element to shonen anime. If you have a favorite arc from the series, let us know by commenting down below!

Character Development Keeps It Spicy

Two Heroes

Every Character in My Hero Academia is very unique and its amazing seeing them go through difficult situations and come out better than before, There is always a looming romance between Midoriya and Uraraka that everyone desperately wants to happen, and very emotional scenes that deal with Todoroki's past, Seeing him use his fire was too epic. Another emotionally heavy scene was Midoriya vs Bakugo, when Bakugo let the audience see a side of himself he has never shown. It only gets better when more characters are introduced. We see many power-ups, improvements, and overall greatness from the characters that keeps us on our feet.

Powers Are So Powerful

The power system in My Hero Academia is what makes it stand out the most from other shonen anime. Quirks can range from completely useless to completely overpowered, though that depends on how the user uses their quirk.

"Spoiler Ahead" Izuku Midoriya is quirkless at first which devastates his dream of becoming like his role model "All Might", Though he later gains the same quirk as All Might. There are so many unique quirks that make My Hero Academia amazing and when used correctly they can be really powerful, For example "Half-Cold Half-Hot", "Explosion", "Creation", "Zero Gravity", and so much more! If you have a favorite quirk from the series comment it down below.
