MyAnimeList

To sum up the story, My Hero Academia is a world where majority of the population have special powers which are dubbed, "quirks". The story is about Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy, and his dreams and journey to becoming the #1 Hero. He attends U.A High School along with other students who seek to hone their powers and use them for good by defeating villains and protecting society.

Genres: Action, Comedy, School, Shounen, Super Power

Rating: 8.25 (On MAL)

The Plot Is So Unique

Starting with the plot. My Hero Academia has a very unique shonen concept. The entire power system is very cool with everyone having their own quirk unique to them, and the concept of "students who go to schools to hone their skills and become heroes" is very entertaining, My Hero Academia exceeds in this genre and does a great job at bringing us otaku's along on the adventure. The plot gets better and better as Midoriya and his classmates have more run-ins with villains and have to fight in order to survive. And the growing rivalry between Midoriya and Bakugo, which is an essential element to any shonen anime is absolutley amazing.

Character Development Keeps It Spicy

Two Heroes

Every Character in My Hero Academia is very unique and seeing them go through difficult situations and come out better than before is amazing. There is always a looming romance between Midoriya and Uraraka that everyone desperately wants to happen, and very emotional scenes that deal with Todoroki's past. Another emotionally heavy scene was Midoriya vs Bakugo, when Bakugo let the audience see a side of himself he has never shown. It only gets better when more characters are introduced. We see many power-ups, improvements, and overall greatness from the characters that keeps us on our feet. You'll always get attached with the characters and it feels like you're right beside them as they learn and grow.

Powers Are So Powerful

The power system in My Hero Academia is what makes it stand out the most from other shonen anime. Quirks can range from completely useless to completely overpowered, though that depends on how the user uses their quirk.

"Spoiler Ahead" Izuku Midoriya is quirkless at first which devastates his dream of becoming like his role model "All Might", Though he later gains the same quirk as All Might. There are so many unique quirks that make My Hero Academia amazing and when used correctly they can be really powerful, For example "Half-Cold Half-Hot", "Explosion", "Creation", "Zero Gravity", and so much more! Quirks make My Hero Academia a very unique anime and there is no limit to what type of quirks we'll see in the future.

Art Style And Animation

My Hero Academia has a very unique art style and an even more amazing style of animation. Their Art style is a mixutre of standard anime style and cartoon style. You can see the different types of art styles here. As a super powern shonen anime there is a lot of fighting that happens and anime fights must have great animation. My Hero Academia does a great job at animating its fights with amazing choreography that puts all of the quirks and powers on display perfectly. Fights are a key component to a good shonen anime and those fights must be drawn out well and animated incredibly. If you like anime fights, check out our "Top 10 Anime Fights"

Final Thought

These are some of the best qualities that make My Hero Academia a unique and an incredible shonen anime, and it deserves all the hype it gets in the anime world. It has a way of pulling you in, to the point where you feel like you are on this incredible journey as well. Paired with great animation and emotional scenes. My Hero Academia is a 10/10!
