Tokyo has become a cruel and merciless city, a place where vicious creatures called “ghouls” exist alongside humans. The citizens of this once great metropolis live in constant fear of these bloodthirsty savages and their thirst for human flesh. However, the greatest threat these ghouls pose is their dangerous ability to masquerade as humans and blend in with society.

Genres: Action, Mystery, Horror, Psychological, Supernatural, Drama, Seinen Rating: 7.86 (on MAL)

“Pain makes people change” This statement can summarize the entirety of Tokyo Ghoul. In this article we'll be reviewing some of the key elements that makes Tokyo Ghoul a really good anime to watch.

The Music Is Amazing

One key element the makes Anime awesome is the music that sets the mood! Every song is amazing in Tokyo Ghoul, the OP Music entices the fans all the time, and particularly season one’s op is the most iconic. The soundtracks are good and really set the mood. Artwork is incredible plus the ending song isn't a let down.

The Plot Is Engaging

Kaneki is our protagonist who turned into a ghoul, but he doesn’t acknowledge it. The first season is depressing because he doesn’t want to become a ghoul, and the obstacles he is faced with become more and more difficult. One of the flaws about this anime is that the violence can be censored at times, but there are some gruesome moments captured superbly in this ghoul’s world. The plot of this anime is exceptionally expansive: Humans versus Ghouls and Ghouls versus Ghouls. Overall character development is amazing. The main character’s life was a difficult one with his mother passing away, after being turned he can’t eat normally anymore, and afterward he tries to keep his humanity though he succumbs to ghoul- like nature. These aspects make our protagonist really entertaining to watch.

Character Devolpment

There is always a good romance development between Touka and Kaneki. And through watching them as the series goes on you start to love their characters. Likewise, the friendship of Kaneki with Hide is so cool. He realizes that Kaneki is a ghoul, yet at the time he accepts him as his closest friend and attempts to help him. These scenes are a mix of sadness with love that will make you feel conflicted at times. There are other acceptable side characters and a fan favorite is Hinami, the sweet younger sister figure who tragically loses her mother and father, and through all her struggles she still remains kind and thoughtful. Throughout the series you always hope she doesn't get hurt.  The twist however comes when Kaneki somehow loses his memory and becomes Haise, a member of the CCG. The CCG is The Commission of Counter Ghoul . CCG is the human police investigation department who kill ghouls.

Final Thoughts

There are many unanswered questions throughout the anime , which makes the Manga superior to the Anime. For example

-How do the individuals turn into ghouls?

-Why can ghouls only drink coffee?

Tokyo Ghoul is still a good Anime to watch and will keep you entertained with its characters alone. It displays a good story with incredible battles and some lovely friendships.
